Abstract (Summary)
Summary: The IEEE 1451.4 standard provides a scheme for not only analog and digital, but mixed mode as well, to interface transducers. This standard also defines Transducer Electronic Data Sheet (TEDS) to provide critical information to initialize and identify the sensor itself, which brings the plug and play ability to a sensor. As a newer and more comprehensive standard, the IEEE 1451.0 standard provides a common basis for members in the IEEE 1451 standard family to be interoperable. To do so, the 1451.4 standard, like all the other existing members of 1451 standard family, needs to be translated to fit the 1451.0 requirements. This project focuses on programming the PIC16F628A microcontroller which is on the E106 Minimal NCAP (Network Capable Application Processor) developed by Esensors Inc., and the software design which converts the 1451.4 Basic TEDS to 1451.0 TEDS.
