Abstract (Summary)
It has become even harder for the smaller companies in the human resource staffing business to survive long term, in the increasingly competitive market. The smaller companies have no possibility to compete by price against the larger companies and must therefore find other ways to create value. The primary purpose of the study is to investigate the internal conditions for building processes that create value in smaller companies. The study will be done through a survey of three larger and two smaller staffing companies in Sweden. The focus of the study is internal marketing and the study will be done from a corporate management perspective as well as from an employee’s perspective. The latter perspective has been built as a theoretical model. The result of the study shows that smaller companies create value through their employees, because the employee’s special competence is a competitive advantage against the larger companies in the business. To focus on these special competencies in the employee policy, thereby involving and motivating the employees is a necessity for the smaller companies to be able to build processes that creates value. The conclusion of the study is that a smaller company has to reach an agreement between the company’s employee policy and the business concept in order to get the entire organization to work in the same direction and reach a long term profitability and survival.
