The effects of teacher efficacy on teaching method

Abstract (Summary)
(Uncorrected OCR) Tenchor IMficacy 3 Abstract Recent curriculum reform advocates the use of innovative leaching methods by various stall development and training programmes. However, previous research showed training did not guarantee teachers' implementation of new instructional practices, "["lie objective of the present study is lo investigate the significant predictors for situation-specific teaching efficacy and for the use of leaching methods. Il is also aimed at investigating whether significant predictors for the use of leaching methods mediated by situation-specific leaching efficacy. 249 teachers from upper primary and junior secondary schools are recruited for (lie study. It was found that general personal teaching efficacy and student motivation were the significant predictors for situalion-specifie teaching efficacy. The perceived mastery level of teaching methods and class size were significant predictors for teachers' use of teaching methods. Results indicated that situation-specific teaching efficacy was not related lo the use of teaching methods. The study results suggest the ways to promote teachers' use of innovative teaching methods.
