Prácticas discursivas y representaciones sociales del Servicio Social en Chile. Un horizonte de búsqueda

This thesis is a critical analysis of the Chilean Social Assistance and the essence of this profession through the Social Representation Theory.By definition, the Social Assistance is different from other profesiones: the intervention with a specifi instrumental level in the social area as a whole, where a multiple reality and a single one exist at the same time.The results allow us to affirm that we need to face the condition of the professional practice, the regressive and traditional aspects of the country's history and the profession's history itself, re-organizing these elements in an intervention where the social experience is shared with a full historical backgraund that is responsible for an emprical reality and guide us in the future having in mind the past-present relationship
