Adoção de sistemas de informação como recurso estratégico nas grandes empresas do setor do agronegócio da região oeste do estado do Paraná, Brasil
The significant growing in the agro business sector, mainly in the West Region of Paraná State, consolidated this region as an economic pole of development. In this context, the companies started, gradually, a modernization in their goods manufacture. They are focusing a better qualification in the products that they are sending to a market even more demanding. So, with the business evolution there was a necessity that these companies also had to have a suitable management in their information. For this, it was essentia l an effective information system structure in the decisive process. With this situation, the study realized in the big companies in the agro business in the West Region of Paraná State, Brazil, tried to analyze the information system utilization as a strategic resource to obtain the real operational efficiency received. The research developed was descriptive, the type ?survey?, it was adopted a quantitative method. In the research it was also adopted, as a complementary way, the outline exploratory in the study of the case, with a qualitative method. In the beginner it was studied seven big companies in the agro business sector in the West Region of Paraná State, it was, however, a census kind. The social subjects were the managers of the informatics department. At the second moment, based in the results obtained in this first step, two companies were studied deeper than the others. At the second step, it was concept as subjects of the research - key-announcers - they are responsible by the sale, buy, financ ial, control and quality department and the board of directors. Setting off the question on how to use the information system as a strategic resource to obtain earn in the operational efficiency, the research result, showed on the both moments that the companies have the mainly systems of processing in the organization transactions and using these, they obtained reduction in the default on payments, and in increase in the turnover, a better service to the client and a better sale system. The initial premise that the information systems serve as a strategic resource to obtain turnover the operational efficiency was true, once the companies are doing investments in these information systems and the information received by these systems are used to the management, it is subsidizing the decision process, as a strategic resource.
