Análisis de la teoría de las metas de logro y de la autodeterminación en los planes de especialización deportiva de la Generalitat Valenciana.
Abstract (Summary)
ABSTRACT
Based in the Achievement Goal Theory (Nicholls, 1989) and Hierarchical Model of Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation (Vallerand, 1997) based in the Cognitive Evaluation Theory (Deci y Ryan, 1985b, 1991) present study analysed Motivational Climate, Perception of Success, autonomy, competence and relationships perceptions, intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation and amotivation as predictors of enjoyment, performance and drop out in a sample of 230 youth athletes (12-18 years) participants in ten different sports.
Analysis results in the Achievement Goal Theory indicated that (1) perceptions of ego motivational climate and task goal orientations were positively associated with enjoyment, (2) competence perception were positively associated with performance and (3) none of the variables were related with drop out.
Analysis results in Hierarchical Model of Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation showed (1) relationships perception, intrinsic motivation were positively associated with enjoyment, while amotivation was negatively associated, (2) relationships perceptions was positively related to performance and (3) autonomy perception was negatively related with drop out.
Finally, to compare which of both theories showed as better predictor of drop out, discriminate analysis was made. Hierarchical Model of Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation was the better predictor because classified correctly 84.8% of cases, while Achievement Goal Theory classified correctly only 73.6% of cases
These results support partially the Achievement Goal Theory and the Hierarchical Model of Motivation hypothesis because same of the variables were verified as affective and conduct consequence predictors. In conclusion, we thought that these models may be an instrument to perform interventions in the sport domain to increase athletes motivation.
Key words: Self-determination theory, sport initiation, Achievement Goal Theory.
