Abstract (Summary)
The searching for the meaning comprehension of what is for a woman to bear a child under high risk situation came out from my obstetrician nurse and teaching experience. During that time I perceived that the pregnant woman who showed one or more risk factors was frail and vulnerable before the day by day uncertainties, which cause her to live with phantom risk threatening her health. To get near these womens experience I chose for the qualitative research in a phenomenon treatment. The open interview guided by the question What is for you to bear a child under your high risk condition? made possible the phenomenon revealing to me. Sixteen pregnant women, who were attended in the Pré-natal de Alto Risco da Policlínica Municipal in Divinópolis/MG, participated in the study. The ideograph analysis of the subjects discourses permitted me to construct the following categories: Experienced body/ perceived body: the feeling expression in the risky pregnancy; Living the expectations of the giving birth: between light and darkness and Interacting with the multiprofessional team: the attendance interfaces in the risk pregnancy. The comprehension/interpretation of the phenomenon essential aspects was based on the philosophical presupposition of the existential phenomenology by Maurice Merleau-Ponty and other authors who work with the pregnancy theme. The pregnant women fear to die during the pregnancy or in the giving birth moment, fear the child loss, its premature birth and yet some deficiency, at the same time they protect it excessively; they feel alone, insecure, vulnerable; on the other hand, they have confidence and hope that everything will be right. After winning the diagnosis impact, they entrust the multiprofessional team with their health, they change their living habits and try to live according the professionals` rules. I believe that this study will help the health professionals, preferentially, the male nurses, to reflect on their care practice and attention to the high risk pregnant woman. So it is necessary a more humanized attendance, according to the rules by the present programs directed to the mother health, in which entireness is pointed out as the great partner in the assistance quality given to the woman, in the hospital level as well as in the basic attention.
