Soil water availability for coffee crop at Planalto da Conquista ? BA: analysis of water balance components
Abstract (Summary)
Productivity and quality of the coffee in Brazil, are directly affected by thevariations of the water availability in the soil-plant-atmosphere system. With theobjective of analyzing the components of the water balance and of quantifyingtheir spatial variability with respect to the phenological phases of the coffeereproductive cycle, it was carried out an experiment to quantify the soil waterstorage variation, the rain, the intenal drainage and the evapotranspiration, in adystrophic ?Yellow latossol? in Barra do Choça ? Bahia. Rain distribution wasmuch irregular along the crop cycle, even though have supplied part of the, thecrop real evapotranspiration; the soil water storage, was always below the fieldcapacity and the supply of supplemental water for the coffee, should be donefrom october to november and in april.
