Sistema de informações de recursos hídricos da Bacia do Itajaí: Projeto Piloto para a Sub Bacia do Rio Benedito

The Brazilian law 9433/97 established the national water policy in Brazil, created the national system for water resource management and defined the instruments for water management. Among those instruments, the water resource information systems (WRIS) is the widest, because it articulates the other instruments and organizes the information about the water and its use of a watershed and correlated subjects. This information system subsidizes the grant for water use and pricing, as well as the water planning process in the basin. Until the present, there are only small developments on the implementation of those management instruments in Santa Catarina State, making difficult the work and action of the water committees. This paper considers a proposal for the WRIS for the Itajaí river basin, trying to contribute in the definition of a orientation, design, and building of the WRIS, based on issues discussed by the Itajaí Water Committee. To reach this objective, this research was based in qualitative bibliographic research of descriptive and not experimental character, and experimental using the Benedito River Sub-basin as experimental area. The main results was the development of a propose of structure to the Water Resources Information System to Itajaí River Basin, and of an action line to the implementation of the system.
