Operations Planning is that process which connects the sales plan and the
production plan with the businessplan. This is an ongoing process, which repeats every
month. This type of planning is very popular in the USA according to Richard, C Ling
(1988), but then it was he who invented S
&
OP.
In my work, I will show what Sales
&
Operations Planning is and how it can be
implemented. Although it's a popular way of planning in the USA, it hasn’t been such a
success in Sweden. I will show how Swedish companies divide articles in families and
how the literature wants it to be done. I will also point out the advantages with what-if
analyses and how Swedish companies do there planning.
