An active database is based on Event-Condition-Action rules. The active database automatically react on events generated internally or externally in the database system. This paper presents an analysis and further development of two systems development methods to render the possibility to model active rules by the aid of business rules. The problem is to find solutions to express the business rules in an effective manner for the selected method and its modelling techniques.
