REPORT OF AN INTERNSHIP WITH ENSR|AECOM INC. SEPTEMBER 2006 TO SEPTEMBER 2007
Abstract (Summary)The purpose of this paper is to describe my internship with ENSR|AECOM, Inc., an environmental consulting firm. During the internship, I was employed as an environmental scientist. In this position, I participated in field activities and helped prepare technical reports for submission to private corporations and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM). Most of the activities that I completed were driven by IDEM and, specifically, the rules and regulations concerning manufactured gas plants (MGPs). Field investigation activities consisted of soil borings, monitoring well installation, and sampling of various media using United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) methodologies as well as ENSR standard operating procedures (SOPs). This paper summarizes my experiences and outlines one particular project in which I was heavily involved.
