O teletrabalho nas empresas desenvolvedoras de software do estado de Santa Catarina: um estudo multicaso

Abstract (Summary)
The competitive strategy of a company looks to establish a lucrative and sustainable position through a combination of various factors such as price, cost, the logistics of distribution and customer services, among others. In the current competitive market, companies constantly seek out alternatives for improving their customer service, with the objective of conquering an increasingly exclusive and valuable position within the market. One of the strategies most pursued by companies is to offer some differential to its customers, whether an innovative product or a lower sales price than its competitors or even personalized service. In this context, the tele-work mode arose as an alternative for making the organization more flexible, bringing it closer to its customers. The objective of the current work is to investigate how telework is being dealt with by software developing companies in Santa Catarina. Through research using the multi-case method with qualitative focus, it was possible to identify among the companies researched understanding of the part of management in regard to tele-work, the advantages and disadvantages involved in adopting tele-work, the areas and numbers of collaborators that perform as tele-workers, the reasons that lead companies to choose telework and the principal alterations the have occurred in these companies, among other information gathered. As an instrument for data collection, a questionnaire made up of closed and open questions was used; secondly, interviews were made with the directors of the companies researched, with the objective of resolving any doubts that occurred from the methodology. The general conclusions of this work indicate that the companies researched adopt tele-work seeking to make their organizations more flexible and to increase productivity; they suggest that there is still much space remaining for the expansion of telework, and that half of the companies researched consider tele-work to be a competitive differential.
