Abstract (Summary)
The trajectories of three women constitute the field of study of this Master Degree dissertation, which has as objective to analyze the significations and the senses of literacy to students who joined a group of MOVA-RS, from the area of ?Bosque?, in the town of Rio Grande. Interlacing trajectories, I organize this study in journeys which narrate stories of life, including my trajectory in the Movement of Literacy and the trajectories of women, proposing a dialogue with the theorists which base the Education of young and adults, and the Environmental Education. The theoretical approach based my reflections concerning to the Education of Young and Adults along the history of Brazilian education, with emphasis on the experience of MOVA-RS and on the ?freireano? points of reference which articulate experiences of Popular Education and of Environmental Education. As methodological option to the development of this quality-based research, I search for orientation on the (auto)biographical approach and on the principles of ethnography, which lead the process of data collection, according to the process of narratives and observations on the local context, as well as also oriented the textual analysis on the narratives expressed by the three women. Such analysis offered me the possibility of knowing the journeys accomplished by each participant of the research, interpreting the senses and significations attributed by them in each experience. The analysis of the narratives show that the trajectories talk about different stories, but similar in the way each woman lived and live the significations of literacy. Read and write is, for them, the possibility of occupying a social place, and to do activities they were not allowed to, and to set a position in relation to the condition of oppression felt by not disposing of such a tool. They express in the reading they do nowadays about their own lives, about the world? the experiences distinguished from the process of literacy, what gives them the possibility of building new relations with the environment they live and with their own history.
