A New Architecture for Developing Component-based Distributed Applications
This thesis investigates the component technologies, such as CORBA, XML and JAVA RMI, and presents a new architecture over the CORBA infrastructure to provide a more flexible, extensible and robust development platform for distributed application developers. It studies three constraints in the distributed application development area, the distributed-technology-dependency, the interface changeability, and the publishing of interface information. The new architecture gives a better solution than the existing ones. Besides, the architecture will reduce the cost and time of distributed application development. The architecture also provides a good way to integrate the XML (eXtensible Markup Language) into CORBA infrastructure, and it can be extended to other distributed technology such as JAVA RMI. A specific case is used to demonstrate the power of the architecture. The merits of the component-based architecture are thoroughly discussed.
