This research consists of a discussion based on Lula?s political speech supported by the theoryof the Speech Analysis from Michel Pechêux. It works on the hypothesis that in the period oftime from his position as a candidate to his real democratic election to President of Brazilsome significant changes had been occurred. That said, this research tries to explain thespeech mechanisms of the ?being? used by him and also identify his social/political historythen relate them to the events which they are engaged. For that purpose, fragments of the TVelection period debates, interviews obtained during the previous week to the election in theyears of 1998, 2002 and 2006 and also some of his speech in the years of 2003 and 2007,when he was finally elected. This chosen corpora for the following dissertation works withthe possibility of identifying the different ?beings? assumed by the subject - the president ?that can demonstrate those changes mentioned above toward his politic identity
