Light: in response to time

by VAUGHN, CHAD DEAN

Abstract (Summary)
Light can be described as the sensation aroused by stimulation of the visual organs; making vision possible. Being predominately visual beings, understanding the power of light is important because there is no other sensation that affects our bodies as strongly as light does. Light carries with it the inherent ability to transcend a spiritual experience into a space. Light, as a design element, can create a conscious visual perception in response to the time. The perception of light can bring a space to life, creating a unique atmosphere for human experience. Allowing the season of light to enter a space enables the interior atmosphere to change simultaneously with the exterior. The changing conditions of the light, in relation to time, will evoke an emotional experience through the creation of unrepeatable scenes.
