Life quality of old people Who are attended by Family?s Health teams in Rio Grande.

Abstract (Summary)
The study aimed to describe the demographic and social-economic profile and the perception of life quality (LQ) of an old population from an urban region that attended by the Family?s Health Strategy teams in Rio Grande ? RS, and also to analyze the association between the variables which are interesting for the study and the LQ realized by the old people. It was a transversal and descriptive study with 301 old people registered in Rio Grande, for the time of July to August of 2008. Data were collected by domiciliary interview. A specific formulary was used to build the profile and to the LQ evaluation, the WHOQOL-BREF was used.The statistic package to do the analysis was the Stata program v. 9.2. The data descriptive analysis was made using the medium and deviation-standard for numerical variables. Comparing variables and LQ dominations was done towards variation analysis (ANOVA). The occurrence measure used was prevalence together with the trust interval of 95% (IC95). The life quality four dominations and general LQ were the dependent variables, being proposed 12 independent variables interesting for the correlation. Among the responders, 61,3% were female at the age between 60 and 69, 82,7% Caucasians, 66,1% with low education, 54,8% married, 85% retired, 90,4% live with other people, 38,9% are low income, 76,4% live in masonry houses and 80,7% have channeled water, 86,4% say to have some health problem, highlighting hypertension - 28,6% - and other cardiac problems ? 14,6%. A proportion of 42,2% percept their health as regular, 64,4% are not part of groups and 60,5% take ambulatory treatment. A positive and statically significant association with better scores of LQ between male old people who reached in Psychological domination and in Social, with old people at the age between 60 and 69 in Physical domination, Psychological, Social , of the same way with old people of high education, in Physical domination, Psychological , Environmental and general LQ was verified. About the civil status, the old people who are widowers had less LQ scores in Physical dominations, Psychological and Social. The ones who are not retired and that ones who do not live alone got the higher score in Physical domination . The ones with better income got the better scores in Physical domination, Psychological, Environmental and general LQ. The ones who did not refer health problems got better scores in Physical domination, Psychological and general LQ. The best is the health perception, got better scores in all dominations . Old people who are part of groups got better scores of LQ in all dominations. The ones who are not in treatment got the better scores in Physical domination and general LQ. Results showed the factors? diversity which influenced in the LQ and the importance to know this age group?s profile, to establish health public politics and subside the reorientation of action that have been developed to guarantee the old people integral health and their life quality.
