Print year: 2005 Instructur: Martin Molin That people have influence over their daily life and over their homes, is something that almost everyone takes for granted. When it’s about people with intellectual disabilities isn’t it naturally to express their preferences and this may influence the shape and the design of the homes, the staffed housing facility, they live in. We want, in our study, investigate how people with intellectual disabilities experience their possibility to have influence in their homes. With help of interviews which is unstructured are we seeking answers about how the persons in our study think of there own possibility of influence. We also want to find out how well this peoples preferences match with the shape of activity in the staffed housing facility. To come to an conclusion have we made different themes and put it together in a curve. The result shows what the persons express in the interviews and our interpreting of their answers. In our discussion we have come to the conclusion that this persons living in this chosen staffed housing facility has a lot of influence in their ordinary life. We have also seen that in some occasions the persons can be given more opportunities to decide for them selves. Sometimes is the possibility to choose reduced by a lack of knowledge about different opportunities.
