Abstract (Summary)
Dr. Cindy Hendricks, Advisor The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the literacy backgrounds and continued motivation to read of junior high school students with special needs. This investigation utilized a modified version of the Rhody Secondary Reading Attitude Assessment, as well as a modified version of the Home Literary Environment Survey. A follow up interview was conducted to acquire more in depth information regarding the students’ attitude toward reading. The setting for this study was a rural Northwest Ohio junior high school special needs class. iii
