Abstract (Summary)
During the last few years there has been an accelerating speed in the technological development which has given companies to the ability to communicate with customers over the Internet. This communication is possible via e-commerce websites. Studies made in Sweden show that e-trading are increasing every year. More companies are establishing on the Internet and more customers use the Internet to do their everyday shopping. Because of this, the relationship between companies and consumer are becoming more important. Customer interaction on e-commerce sites is a part of establishing a good relationship.This study deals with customer interaction towards e-commerce websites and focuses on the design on them from a customer perspective. The design of the websites is of great im-portance for how the customers experience the company and the buying process.The purpose with this essay is to find similarities and differences between the different e-commerce websites both within and between the branches. These include home electronic, books and travel companies. A comparison of these branches will be done from the result of the evaluation.In the theoretical framework different author’s opinions about how an e-commerce web-site should be design are presented. The empirical framework presents the evaluation of the e-commerce websites. The evaluation has been done by an already existing evaluation method. The theoretical framework and our empirical findings are put together in an analy-sis.The evaluation of the six companies’ e-commerce websites has resulted in a conclusion of differences and similarities within each branch and also with each branch. The conclusion is done generally and with thoughts of the number of evaluated e-commerce websites. On the basis of the conclusion the authors of this essay has given proposals to changes on the e-commerce websites that aims to give the users the highest level of satisfaction.
