Housing Affordability In Collier County: How Does It Affect Moorings Park Employees
Abstract (Summary)
Housing affordability has become a significant issue for workers, business owners, and community leaders alike, in light of the rapid increase of home values in Collier County. This thesis is designed to study the effects of the high cost of housing on the employees of Moorings Park Retirement Community and will serve as a basis of information for the senior management staff of Moorings Park to establish the approach on how to deal with the affordability issues affecting the employees today and in the future. A random sample survey was conducted by ninety-three employees of Moorings Park along with a research study in other county and state government levels to ascertain the impact of housing affordability issues. Five key informant interviews were also conducted with local experts. Further research is necessary to obtain a clearer understanding of the affordability issues and its impact on Southwest Florida.
