THE GROWTH OF E-PAYMENT SYSTEMS IN NIGERIA: AN EMPIRICAL RESEARCH ON THE INSTITUTIONAL REFORMS AND CONSUMER ATTITUDE: A CASE STUDY OF INTERSWITCH NIGERIA LIMITED.
Abstract (Summary)
The Nigerian economy is largely cash-based with a lot of money circulating outside of the banking system. Apparently, this has been a deterrent issue to e-commerce and e-payment participation. This dissertation work reviews, investigates and address the factors affecting the development of Nigeria e-payment system; the existing payment methods; the enthusiasm and prospect for e-commerce; and the challenges encouraging its wider applications.
I therefore propose a legal framework among the stakeholders and government to guide the operations of the scheme; private investors (initiative to manage the entire system with a view to guaranteeing security, confidence and effective control; and a healthy e-payment structural design.
