AVALIAÇÃO DO PROGRAMA DE CONTROLE DA DOENÇA DE CHAGASNO MUNICÍPIO DE BERILO, VALE DO JEQUITINHONHA, MG, BRASIL,OITO ANOS APÓS A IMPLANTAÇÃO DAVIGILÂNCIA EPIDEMIOLÓGICA.
Abstract (Summary)
In this work was carried out an Integral Research (IR) of triatomines in Berilomunicipality, Jequitinhonha Valley, MG, Brazil, where all the rural and urbandomiciliary units (DU?s) were examined with the objective of to evaluate the impactof the Control Programm of Chagas Disease (CPCD) implanted in this municipalitysince 1982, over the domiciliary and peridomicilary triatominic populations. Thecaptured insects were identified and examined to verify the occurence of infectionby T. cruzi. All DU?s with triatomines intra and peridomicile were sprayed usingpiretroid insecticide. It was performed also serological examination of all residents in DU?s infested bytriatominines. Blood was collected by venous punction and examined by ELISA,IHA and IIF. During the IR, 5,242 DU?s were examined and 35 were infested. Thetriatomines species captured were Panstrongylus megistus (72%) and Triatomapseudomaculata (28%) being the peridomicile (chiken roost) the principal local ofcaptures. The captured triatomines were concentrated in North of the municipalityand areas of superposition of P. megistus and T. pseudomaculata occured. Nonetriatomine from 391 captured was infected by T. cruzi. A great intradomicilar focusof T. pseudomaculata was detected for the first time in Minas Gerais state.Considering the construction pattern, the majority of DU?s were from type A (49%)and C (40%). From positive DU?s 74% were type C.The human prevalence of T. cruzi infection was 25% (31 individuals) being 97% ofthem upper 30 years old. The almost absence of T. cruzi infection in childrenassociated to entomological data from the IR suggest that the vectorialtransmission of Chagas disease is interrupetd in Berilo. Comparing the IR data withthe epidemiological surveillance (ES) implanted since 1997, it was verified thatBerilo have displaying entomological indicators coherent with the ES.Its important to note that the ES display methodolgical problems, consequence of adecentralization process implanted in a precipitate way, since that the municipalitywas not prepared for this responsability.
