Abstract (Summary)
(Uncorrected OCR) Discontinuity survey using laser scanning technology ABSTRACT A study of the application of laser scanning technology for the discontinuity survey was carried out because of the client's request. The objective of the study was to evaluate the capabilities and limitations of a newly acquired laser scanner in discontinuity survey. Testing data were obtained from a typical site by the author. It has been revealed that the laser scanning technology is not designed for the application of discontinuity survey, some kinds of customisation work have to be done before the technology can be employed successfully to the specific purpose. In-depth understanding of the hardware and software of the laser scanning system is required to streamline the process. Abstract Page: iv
