by Marti?nez Osorio, Filadelfo

Abstract (Summary)
The purpose of this study is to analyze Germa?n Espinosa's El signo del pez from the point of view intertextuality, dialogue and heteroglosia, according to the observations made by theorists such as Julia Kristeva, Roland Barthes, Gerard Genette y M.M. Bahktin. In particular in this paper we pay special attention to the way in which in Espinosa's novel several biblical passages are expanded, transformed or distorted in order to reconstruct the life of the protagonist (Saul from Tarsus) and demythologize biblical texts. In addition, we will analyze the way in which in the novel's discourse the narrator establishes a dialogue between fiction and the essay as a literary genre, politics and faith, the past and the present, the narrator and the reader, and the narrator and the protagonist.
