DEVELOPMENT OF THE LASER REMOTE MOUSE
Abstract (Summary)
To control the movement of the cursor, a laser is shined onto the projected screen. The user then moves the laser and the mouse cursor will, in real time, follow it. The basic system uses a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) programmed to filter camera data and select the brightest point. This is sent back to the projector controller (labtop, handhelp, tesktop) and utilizing the custom software produces a relevant X, Y position of the laser, based on previously obtained information about the location of the projector's image in relation to the camera. To implement this system in a commercially viable way a printed circuit board, enclosure, installation software, and remote was designed.
