The Design and Implementation of a Web-Accessible Database to Integrate with the Existing Information System of Rainbow Soccer, Ltd.

by Smithwick Jr., David J.

Abstract (Summary)
This project analyzes and redesigns part of the information system for Rainbow Soccer Ltd. in Chapel Hill, NC. The goal of the project is to optimize the information system in order to gather and disseminate information with greater accuracy and efficiency. Rainbow Soccerâ„¢s current system primarily consists of a static, informational website accessible to the public. There are two main problems with this system. First, there is not an efficient way for coaches to research field availability. Second, there is no complete, up-to-date master or individual team schedule accessible on the web.

The proposed system incorporates a web-accessible database. The database was built in Microsoft Access while the user interface was created using ColdFusion and HTML. This system would allow the Rainbow Soccer staff to publish up-to-date information more easily and would help facilitate information retrieval for its users.
