Desgaste emocional em professores de escola especial

The objective of the current study was to identify factors of emotional wastage concerning teachers of Special Schools. Difficulties, interference, convenience at School, teachers? perception about their work and role as Special educators became the focus of the present work. Data were obtained from the teachers of Special School Professora Estella Maria Caropreso through semi-structured interview and observation. The research included the mapping of works of the proposed theme, interview, observation and analysis? integration having as basis the theory related to the mapping. Data analysis showed the teachers faced difficulties in material and available adaptation, School rules, behavior and students? attendance, expectation related to their potential and interaction between families and School; teachers presented difficulties in living with families, technical group and students; showed negative feelings concerning the pedagogical practice; reported that professional life interferes in personal. These factors contributed for the emotional wastage of the teachers. The relationship with the Principal, perception of the role as Special educators and personal interference in the profession were factors of emotional wastage not very much mentioned. It was concluded the identified factors make part of a perverse cycle which can lead the relationship between teachers and students to weakness.
