Abstract (Summary)
Environmental Education presents itself as an important platform for dialogues that converge to the debate and the solution of the present socio-environmental issues that we face. Therefore, this discourse is a study, within the context of the libertarian thinking, of the work of the theorist and anarchy militant Murray Bookchin, This study searches for the identification of categories of concepts that allow the evaluation of what his theory can contribute to the Environmental Education. There are two basic objectives in my research: 1) To identify and present the context of the libertarian theorist Murray Bookchin, highlighting its aspects that contain epistemological tools for the understanding of contemporary ecological issues; 2) To contribute to the increase of the dialogues that surface in the field of Environmental Education through these epistemological tools. The study was developed based on the perspective of thehistoriographical research and the documental analysis method with qualitative nature. Thus, in the strife to make sense of the proposed objectives, new possibilities arosefrom the main subject opening pathways for the development of the research. Hence, in order to discuss Murray Bookchin?s work, I emphasize the theoretical context that is the basis of his thinking, which means, the stage from which the perspective of the libertarian thinking emerges, identifying and establishing the tendencies and groups. As follows, I illustrate Brookchin?s life and work so to put an effort in regards topresenting his main ideas and premises that support his thinking, which are connected to the context of the contemporary socio-environmental crisis, along with thealternatives to overcome this issue. Therefore, I took a careful read about the process of formation of the Environmental Education movement, and analyzed the structures of the concepts and themes that shape its foundation. In a final approach, I highlight how the emerging categories of this process will be able to contribute, or rather, be a reference to the expansion of the dialogue in the field of Environmental Education. I conclude that Murray Bookchin?s work has important epistemological instruments that enable the understanding of the complexity of the ecological issues, and it also presents important alternatives for its solution.
