Comportamento da artéria caudal bovina como enxerto biológico vascular alternativo: estudo experimental em cães
Abstract (Summary)
Twenty segments of bovine tail artery, never used before in experimental or clinical studies, treated with glutharaldeid and preserved with formaldeid were interposed in ten dogs? femoral arteries. The post-operative period varied from 180 to 297 days. Motor function, pulses, systolic, diastolic and median blood pressure and blood flow through the graft, as well as consistence, dilatation and color in the take out period were analysed. There was no deaths, motor dysfunction nor inflammatory abnormalities. There were 15% of total thrombosis, focal wall thrombosis (30%), adventitial local linfoplasmocitory reaction (100%), myocells calcification (5%), partial endotelization (30%) and total endotelization (60%). Bovine tail artery is long enough to allow its use in distal arteries segments, besides has diameter similar to small arteries, provides easy epitelization and absence of cytological reaction. Those may qualify bovine tail artery as vascular substitute
