Capoeira, trabalho e educação.
Abstract (Summary)
This dissertation on capoeira, work and education draws on recent information concerning the interface between education and the world of work, its consequences for the Physical Education and, hence, for capoeira, in light of society?s currentproduction restructuring processes. By using documental research and interviews, the dialectical method and discourse analysis, it was aimed at detecting the detrimental social consequences for the capoeira culture resulting from theregulations in the Physical Education profession, especially regarding the capoeira worker?s educational training and its influences. This research pointed to the neocolonialist approach adopted by both the Federal Physical Education Council (CONFEF) and the Regional Physical Education Council (CREF) towards the capoeira culture and the ruinous implications for such culture in both its educational training and praxis. It also founded out the arguments advanced by the council, the goal of professionalization, the tactics employed for an increase in the number of CONFEF/CREF affiliates and for community insertion. On the other hand, it revealed the capoeira community?s coping strategies and resistance movements together with actions against the council?s interfering approaches. It also raised questions on the worst social consequence of the abovementioned regulation for the capoeira culture, namely the regulation of the capoeira professional. The traps set by the professionalization process in the capitalist society were then disclosed, especially as far as the worker?s regulation is concerned. Alternatives for organization wereoffered, thus pointing to other possibilities and showing that such an issue requires further discussion encompassing the whole community.
