Searching for and marking of the area With the help of the landmarks of Gerhard Kapitän in Siracusa who even in 1979 was been working at the Secca di Ógnina we located the rough position of the old research-area Ógnina IV. We anchored there and marked the place with a buoy. Even the intention to mark the exterior border of the whole shallow was the reason for the discovery of a new and bigger area with 2500 year old ceramic objects in ca. 6 m depth. First the area is marked by ribbons and later by a buoy.
