Abstract (Summary)
This study aims to detect both Self-Esteem and associated factors to high and low riskpregnant women seen by SUS (Unique Health System), in the city of Pelotas. It is crosssectiontype counting with 560 who were interviewed from may to november of 2006. Theseinterviews were taken in specific places meant to high-risk pregnant women. Among them62,9% were diagnosed as high-risk ones.Their Self-Esteem was evaluated by Rosenberg Scale, 9,2 mean and 4,6 standarddeviation.The variables which matched positively and meaningfully to the self-esteem were age,school level as well as economical level. However, the perception about the risk to the baby´shealth and the pregnancy numbers shown to be negatively associated to Self-Esteem.Moreover, these high-risk pregnant women have more developed self-esteem if compared tothose low-risk ones
