Att arbeta inom hemsjukvården på Irland : Sjuksköterskans erfarenheter och arbetets innehåll
Abstract (Summary)During the last few years Sweden has become a more multicultural country which means that the nurse sometimes has to take care of patients from different parts of the world. In relation to this, there is an interest to investigate how the health care system works in other countries, in this case the community in Ireland. The purpose of the study is to describe the nurse´s experience of working in the community in Ireland and to describe the content of the work. The data was collected from interviews with four nurses within the community and also unstructured observations. The interviews were recorded and transcribed. After that the data was processed whereupon two major themes, and a number of sub themes emerged. The observations were written down after every single observation, or soon as practically possible. After processing, four major themes emerged. The result shows that the nurse´s work in the community in Ireland requieres a broad range of tasks and a lot of responsibilities. Her clients range from newborn to elderly, which means that she has to possess many different skills. A lot of times she feels inadequate, which is caused by a number of reasons, for example, lack of time. Sometimes though, she gets appreciation from her clients, which has a big importance and contributes bigger work satisfaction. The nurse must have an overall view where she focuses on the entire patient and her life situation.
