This dissertation, linked to the Pedagogical and Didactic Process and Method Research Group of the Post-Graduation Program of Master in Education of FURB ? Universidade Regional de Blumenau, presents a research developed in a special school of the city of Criciúma, Santa Catarina, in the periods of 2.000 and 2.004. Characterized as a case study with a qualitative approach, it had, as an overall goal, to analyze the connections of artistic activities with thesensitive knowledge of the autistic character and, as specific goals, to relate theories about the development of the autistic character with the plastic and visual appreciation activities; to understand the development of the sensitive knowledge of an autistic person, after intervention in artistic activities; to evaluate in what aspects the sensitive knowledge helped the development of the autistic person. To attain that objective, Art activities, based on the Triangular Proposal, used, as instruments for data collecting, interviews, artistic production of the subject of the research, as well as a camp diary. The data analysis, supported by theorists like Ostrower (1991,1998), Duarte Júnior (2001), Damásio (2000 and 2005) Meira (2003), Pillotto (2006), Barbosa (1992, 1998, 2000 and 2002), Sacks (1995) and Beyer (2002 and 2005), among others, revealed that the Art activities that were developed enabled the subject of the research not only an esthetic and artistic education, but also the understandingof moral, ethic and, specially, cultural values, which were clear in the artists´ histories. . It also showed that, through sensitive knowledge, the subject developed thought, language, imagination, creativity and inclusion
